Like most of Burial’s work, ‘Loner’ is a track that absolutely ignites our imaginations through its gorgeous progression disguised as bleary, formlessness. ’Loner’ is probably the most accessible of the three new tracks just released by Burial via his “Kindred” EP, which is surprising because it is chock-full of unorthodox and fairly unpalatable concepts -broken loops, wavering levels, and off-kilter tempo choices to name a few. The entire EP is a stellar example of why Burial has become as respected as he has in the electronic world; he is unmatched when it comes to experimentation gone right.
